Hey everyone,

Sorry for the newsletter delay; it is September, yes, but this is the August Newsletter! The August Striking Post is already up, and we will send another newsletter when the September post is published.

First off, this month’s Striking Post kicks off a series that sensei is writing about his various senseis over the years. We will also be adding pictures to the stories where available. The first one is about Yamazaki Sensei, the current head of Japan Keishinkan. You can read it here:

Michael Ransom, Keishinkan nidan black belt, makes his second straight victory in the MMA arena.

Congratulations to Mike Ransom, one of Boise Kei Shin Kan’s black belts, on his second straight MMA victory! Mike took down and submitted his opponent in 35 seconds. Mike also trains with fellow Keishinkan Ricky Steele, and they both also train with Combat Fitness in Boise, Idaho. Here is a highlight video from the fight series that night:

Boise Keishinkan dojo to appear in national guidebook of traditional dojos.

Last month, Sensei Espinoza was approached by author Gary Parker. Mr Parker is writing a book called “Hidden Treasures”, which acts as a national guidebook to traditional dojos in the United States. The author grew up in Okinawa, and trains with Goshukan in Colombus, OH. More information will come out as the project progresses!
